You are internet professionals. You work, every day, with "Web 2.0" and the new media, such as it is.

Why is it, then, that you cannot get a video on Youtube to display in the right goddam aspect ratio?

You get points for noticing. Most people don't care that much, so we put it up sooner rather than redo it to get the ratio right. It's not trivial to get the ratio right, since youtube embeds are by default the non-widescreen version, and therefore the cropping will be different on embeds vs. on youtube.com. Again, nothing internet professionals couldn't fix with time. just need to find some ;).

Thanks for replying, actually. Sorry if I came across as snarky, it's just a pet peeve of mine.

Incidentally, a lot of the sites with, shall we say, less stringent copyright rules have a button that lets users change the aspect ration on the fly. Another option that Google could do is a bit of autodetection using that nifty face-detection algorithm they have on GIS and Street View to find the faces and see if they're distorted.

That was awesome, though some stuff seemed to be missing that was actually in the teaser vid. For instance, I know in the teaser vid there was that bit with the dig at the creationists.

So now, of course, I'm wondering what else I'm missing. :)

Have to go with the comment that Mythbusters totally rocks except that not being american it sounds slightly odd when I say it - but it remains true. Thanks for all the myths and busting - thanks for the science and giving us science types a way to look cool and get kids interested.
